Reverse Accelerated Aging

There are many common lifestyle habits that age us prematurely. Modern life is filled with toxic air and substances as well as chemicals and preservatives in our food. We often are suffering from chronic stress and don’t prioritize sleep, movement, or healthy foods, all of which would help us be healthier and feel amazing.

These habits all contribute to accelerated aging:

  • Eating an ultra-processed food diet (pretty much anything that comes in a box)

  • A sedentary lifestyle; our bodies need movement for digestion, muscle retention and mood balance

  • Eating too many simple carbs and sugars which deregulate our glucose-insulin balance

  • Not getting enough sleep, which messes with our circadian rhythm and our satiety hormones

  • Suffering from chronic stress, which messes with your hormones and keeps you fat

  • Drinking too much alcohol, which just adds unnecessary sugar calories and dehydrates you

  • Not working to maintain muscle mass (incorporating strength training is even more important as you age)

  • Social isolation and losing your life’s purpose

What are some simple things you can do to reverse the trend? Commit to walking every day (especially after your largest meal) and lifting some weights while watching your favorite show; clean up your diet; and prioritize sleep and relaxation.

The new year is a great time to focus on your health. My family and I are joining Dr. Mariza Snyder of the Essentially You podcast for a 14-day detox starting 10 January. Won’t you join us? Let’s start this new year off right feeling our best!
